Spanish wines for the holidays (or any day)

Come join Holly Wing from De Maison Selections to taste and learn about an exciting array of Spanish wines.

De Maison is one of the country’s premier importers of quality Spanish wines. Holly, long familiar with the Portland wine scene, is responsible for De Maison’s west coast distribution. Emily Goodman, Pastaworks’ primary wine buyer, will be on hand to assist Holly.

Holly and Emily have selected a number of new arrivals and old favorites from De Maison’s portfolio. You’ll get to sample the wines in an informal setting while Holly and Emily describe the represented wineries and offer some food morsels to accompany the wines.

The class will be held in Evoe at Pastaworks on SE Hawthorne. 6-8 pm on Tuesday, November 13th. $25 per person, includes 7 wines (plus a bonus! ) and delicious food. Sign up at any of the Pastaworks locations or call the Hawthorne store, 503-232-1010. Payment in advance reserves your place.

The Birds are coming

Pastaworks is once again pleased to offer you locally raised turkeys for your holiday celebrations. Distributed by Eat Oregon First and raised by Payne Family Farms, this season’s turkeys are Broad Breasted Bronze, first bred in the New England from a cross of Bronze Turkeys brought from England and the wild turkeys of the Northeast. These “free range” birds are fed only grain grown and cultivated by the Basque Ranch.

The majority of the birds will be suitable for festive family gatherings, in the 15# plus range. Price is $5 per lb. Call the Hawthorne meat department (503 232-1010) between (9:30 AM and 6:30 PM to reserve your bird now.
