This is one of our favorite weekends of the year – tonight at 6 pm at the Fifth Quadrant is our annual Shrimp Boil. Tickets are $14, which includes a plate of shrimp, potatoes, corn on the cob and Louisiana spicy sausage. There will be garlic butter for dipping and Old Bay on the tables. Beer specials will be available, and the 3-piece band Mojitos will play. On tap at Sidebar today is Batch 69 Baltic Porter, C-sons Greetings, Dry Hopped Condor, Rosemary Stout, Black Dawn El Salvadorian & Centennial IPA.
Did you know Saturday is National Clam Chowder Day? What better place to celebrate than at the 6th annual Chowder Challenge from Noon to 4 pm at the Fifth Quadrant. The parking lot is tented, with plenty of spillover into the pub and Sidebar. How does it work? A dozen samples of traditional New England-style clam chowders from local restaurants are served in non-labeled, two-ounce cups. $10 gets you a sampler tray – you try them all, then vote for your favorite. The festivities also feature a beer garden, live music by Mojitos, a free soda garden for kids, Joe the Balloon Guy, and a raffle. All ages are welcome.
There will be a bar in the brewery pouring our Black Hole IPA and our Spring Pale. The Sidebar will be pouring Batch 69 Baltic Porter, Wee LOLA Collaboration, LOLAmpoc Clan blend, Bierz Brown, C-Note & Fool’s Golden. All of our main lineup will be available in the pub. This year, 100% of the money raised from the tasting will be donated to Portland’s Community Transitional School, a school for area homeless kids.

* Saturday, March 3 at Sunshine Tavern: Beer Camp! Join Lompoc brewmaster Bryan for an afternoon of learning and tasting, followed by a cozy three-course meal complete with beer pairings and a good buzz. Tickets are $60, please call 503.288.6200 for a reservation.
* Wednesday, March 7 at Sidebar: Night of the Living Red. Red beers take over the taps, as we serve up Cherry Bomb, 2010 Franc’ly Brewdolph, Roggen Roll, 2011 Fresh Hop Harvestman Red, 2011 Dagda, and Proletariat Red.
* Wednesday, March 21 at Sidebar: Scotch & Beer pairing.
