Life with Lompoc

Happy Friday, friends. You are awesome! And for that, we bring you great local beer.Today & tomorrow at Sidebar, we’re serving up Fleming Red, a blend of Lompoc Wheat Wine, Stout Out Loud, Proletariat Red, and a red ale aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 10 months; Stargell Stars IPA, dry-hopped in the fermenter with Saaz hops giving off a spicy coriander flavor and aroma; Kick Axe Dry Hopped Pale Ale, a light, copper-colored beer that packs a big floral nose with notes of citrus & pine; Red Raisin, our Proletariat Red aged for three years in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels with 35 pounds of sour cherries; Cherry Porter, brewed in July 2009 and aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels with 35 pounds of sour cherries for almost three years; and LSD, a dark, mahogany brew with a touch of smoke in the nose for a rich and complex beer with notes of licorice, toasted malt and dark chocolate.

Tomorrow, Brewer Bryan is heading down to the 11th annual Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria, where he’ll be serving up our LSD. This Oktoberfest style beer festival features more than three dozen beers, live music, food, and family games and takes place at Astoria’s Historic Train Depot, just east of the Columbia River Maritime Museum, along the Astoria Riverwalk. Spend the day at the beach and enjoy some great beer!

Monster Mash is an imperial porter featuring strong chocolate and roast flavors with a touch of red fruit (8.1% ABV). Bourbon Barrel Aged Monster Mash was brewed in Sept. 2010 and aged for two years in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels; it has a vanilla aroma with flavors of oak, chocolate and coffee (8.1% ABV). Both beers feature an updated label design developed in partnership with WAAMCo, the design and idea team of Woody Adams and Andrew MacKenzie.

We will also be releasing North End CDA, the winning recipe from the Timbers Army Homebrew Competition, aptly named in honor of those brave souls who sweat it out on the North End of Jeld-Wen Field every game. This Cascadian Dark Ale brings out the best of Portland’s football club. Rounding out the taps will be Hammerin’ Hank IPA, Oktoberfest, and Kick Axe Dry Hopped Pale Ale.
