Dear readers,Like legions of Julia fans everywhere today I’m noting the 100th anniversary of the birth of America’s beloved Julia Child. Whether she was teaching us to cook — with more forgiveness than many teachers — or simply showing us by example how to be gracious, funny, and lead a good life, Julia was an inspiration. I particularly enjoyed this quote in Grant Butler’s recent round up of memorable Julia quotes, published in The Oregonian: “This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook — try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun!” Right on.
