Flav-R-Pac and the Agri-Business Council of Oregon sponsor Labor
Day weekend food drive to benefit the Oregon Food Bank
WHAT: Heading to the State Fair over Labor Day weekend? Remember to bring canned and non-perishable food items to support Flav-R-Pac and the Agri-Business Council of Oregon, who have partnered with the Oregon State Fair to host a food drive over Labor Day weekend from Saturday, September 4, 2010 to Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Oregon State Fair. The food drive is being sponsored by NORPAC on behalf of its Flav-R-Pac brand to help combat hunger in Oregon and feed the approximately 6.6 percent of Oregonians who go hungry every day.
Canned and non-perishable food donations will benefit the Oregon Food Bank, which feeds more than 240,000 Oregonians per month. With requests for food assistance up by as much as 20 percent this year, the Oregon Food Bank is turning to Oregonians and agricultural partners such as Flav-R-Pac and the Agri-Business Council of Oregon to help make the donations necessary to satisfy this increasing demand.
Donation bins will be posted at the fair’s main entrances – gates F and J – on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and those who donate will receive a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for any of Flav-R-Pac’s Oregon-grown frozen vegetables.
