Local Food Tip – Dulcet Cuisine
July 29, 2010
Is Dulcet Cuisine on your radar? It should be!
Dulcet is one of Portland’s fastest rising food brands featuring a unique line of all-natural spice rubs, sauces, mustards, and ketchups made right here in PDX. In fact, Pam Kraemer, a former restaurateur, launched Dulcet at the Portland Farmer’s Market just five years ago. Now, Dulcet products are sold across the country and even abroad. Within the last two years Dulcet has been written up in Elle-Quebec, Family Circle, Food Network Magazine, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, and has even appeared on the Today Show. Yet, somehow Dulcet still rides a little under the radar in Portland.
So what’s the news, you ask? Dulcet just scored big at the New York Fancy Food Show where their Mild Indian Curry Ketchup was awarded a gold medal in the Best Condiment category. The NASFT Sofi Awards honors the best of the best in speciality foods and beverages. In short, this is a huge deal. Surely a harbinger of big things to come for this small company! As an added honor, Dulcet’s Moroccan Mustard and Lemon, Mustard & Dill Sauce took silver awards in separate categories. It’s highly unusual for three products from the same company to be nominated. Dulcet must be doing something right.
When you have a minute, please check out this local rising star. You’re likely to love the packaging as much as the products themselves. Dulcet Chef/owner Pam Kraemer couldn’t be sweeter. She’s an excellent resource for food stories on condiments, ethnic spices, and delicious cooking of all kinds.
Full Disclosure: Pam Kraemer and I are neighbors in SW Portland. I love Dulcet products and use them often – especially the moroccan spice rub, toasted sesame and ginger sauce, and curry ketchup. I represented Dulcet at a trade show in Chicago recently and helped develop several recipes on their website. Thank you for taking the time to check this out! - Louisa
