Burgerville Brings Back Popular Asparagus Spears

May 11, 2010

A vegetable that both parents and children agree tastes great? You may not believe it, but it’s true and you’ll find it here in the Pacific Northwest at the Vancouver-based Burgerville chain.

The Golden Fried Asparagus Spears, one of Burgerville’s most popular, gourmet menu offerings introduced last year, are back by popular demand and are available now through June 7.

Burgerville’s asparagus comes from Snow & Sons Produce Company, located in Outlook, Washington, in the Yakima Valley. Snow & Sons is a third-generation family owned and operated farm that has been in operation for more than 85 years and employs approximately 220 people during the asparagus season.

The Golden Fried Asparagus Spears are lightly dusted with Shepherd’s Grain flour, an alliance of progressive family farms dedicated to practicing sustainable agriculture.  The spears are then fried to a light, crispy golden brown and served with garlic aioli dipping sauce that Burgerville makes in their restaurants.

Pricing

Golden Fried Asparagus Spears

Small (5 piece): $2.49

Regular (10 piece): $3.99

Don’t forget that you also still have a few days left to try Burgerville’s Crispy Onion & Spinach Turkey Burger. A portion of the proceeds of this limited time offer will be donated to local non-profit organization Zenger Farm.

Zenger Farm is a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates the community about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all. Their philosophy aligns with Burgerville’s support of community involvement to make sure that everyone has access to good food.
