April 28, 2010

Tempting Mother’s Day treats and new products

Tantalize mom’s taste buds with an amazing array of Northwest products at Pastaworks on Hawthorne, Saturday, May 8, 1-4 pm. Portland’s Little T Bakery will sample their delectable baked goods. Little Pots and Pans will showcase their savory items and Willamette Valley Cheese Company, Rogue Creamery and River Edge Creamery will offer you tastes of some of the best artisan made cheeses the country has to offer.

Finish off you gastronomic tour with with a bite of dessert from Finales Desserts and Ruby Jewel Ice Cream. Liquid refreshments will be offered by Trail Head Coffee Roasters (and their bike mounted coffee bar) and Oregon’s legendary Eyrie Vineyards Winery.

If you are planning a Mother’s Day meal, we highly recommend Dayton Meats chickens for roasting or the grill. Tilth and Food Alliance certified, Dayton Meats birds are the real deal, Yes, they actually taste like chicken! We are also pleased to offer cockerels (small, young roosters) from The Basque Ranch for those of you looking for something smaller than a whole chicken. They are available at both the Hawthorne and Mississippi stores (tho’ it’s always best to call ahead to make sure that we have what you want).

And, just in time for walking, trekking, biking, car trips and any other activity that calls for a water bottle (sitting on the stoop also qualifies), look for Laken water bottles. Made in Spain, BPA free, Laken water bottles are sturdy, effective and cool looking. Available at all three locations shortly.
