HOTEL FIFTY AND H5O BISTRO & BAR GET IN THE GIVING SPIRIT

Holiday Tree Benefiting Make-A-Wish Foundation® & Food Drive Benefiting Oregon Food Bank

PORTLAND, Ore. – (November 23, 2009) – Hotel Fifty and H5O bistro & bar, located in downtown Portland at the foot of the Morrison Street Bridge, have partnered with two local organizations to give back to the community in celebration of the holidays.

On Friday, November 27, Hotel Fifty will unveil a tree decorated with ornaments made by students from The Goddard School and Prune Hill Elementary, both in Camas, Wash.  Visitors will have the chance to help support the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oregon by purchasing an ornament for a donation of $5 to the Foundation.  The tree will be located in the lobby of Hotel Fifty through December 31 and cash or check donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® will be accepted at the front desk of the hotel.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.  Each year, hundreds of children throughout Oregon receive a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  For more information about the Foundation, visit http://www.orwish.org.

“We had a lot of fun gearing up for the holiday season this year and giving school children the opportunity to help other children by making ornaments for the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Terry Hanley, general manager of Hotel Fifty.  “In addition, our canned food drive will benefit another local organization in need – the Oregon Food Bank – allowing us to spread holiday cheer throughout the city.”

H5O bistro & bar is holding a canned food drive now through December 30 to benefit the Oregon Food Bank.  According to a recent report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Oregon has the second highest hunger rate in the U.S. and distribution of emergency food boxes throughout the Oregon Food Bank Network increased 14 percent during the last fiscal year.  H5O bistro is helping combat hunger by giving guests a $5 dining credit for every five non-perishable food items brought in for the Oregon Food Bank, including canned meats, vegetables and fruit, canned or boxed meals, peanut butter, canned or dried beans, pasta, rice, cereal and 100 percent fruit juice.  For more information about the Oregon Food Bank, visit http://www.oregonfoodbank.org.
