Sub Rosa Spirits – two gold medals

Sub Rosa Spirits received two Gold Medals at the Beverage Testing Institute this week. 91 and 92 points. We’re totally jazzed about that here at the distillery. It’s always interesting the flavor notes that others pick up. Pepper jelly. Spiced dried meat. Anise cookie dough. Who knew?!!
Of course, we encourage you to find a bottle and send in your tasting notes. They missed the huge ginger notes and the lemony mid-palate on the Saffron. And the citrus notes wafting behind the Tarragon, but the reviewers picked up all sorts of other stuff that was interesting.
Sub Rosa Saffron Vodka
Pale straw green color. Vivid aromas of yellow curry powder and saffron follow through on a round, supple entry to a dryish medium body with raisin date chutney, cardamom, turmeric, and exotic peppercorn notes. Finishes with long, curry, mineral, and pepper jelly fade. A unique flavored vodka to experiment with is exotic Asian influenced fruity and savory cocktails; or try as a substitute for gin.

Sub Rosa Tarragon Vodka
Pale silvery green color. Bright aromas of fresh tarragon jump from the glass and have a nice creamy mint quality and follow through on a supple, silky entry with pine cone and anise seed notes. Finishes with an interesting spiced dried meat nuances on the anise cookie dough fade. Different; try as a substitute for gin in fizzes and flips.
