Pope House Bourbon Lounge to Open in Former Brazen Bean Location
July 25, 2009
Joel Carson and Kitling Lum are pleased to announce the grand opening of the Pope House Bourbon Lounge on Wednesday, July 29th. We are located at 2075 NW Glisan Street, in the former Brazen Bean location.
The Pope House Bourbon Lounge will be one of the first specialty whiskey bars in Portland. Although our emphasis is on bourbon whiskey and its rich history, the Pope House will have something for everyone.
Our beautiful copper top bar is reminiscent of the traditional copper stills used in the whiskey distillation process. Our extensive cocktail menu features classic bourbon and whiskey cocktails. If whiskey isn’t your taste, choose from a variety of original cocktails featuring the fines spirits available. We have 4 rotating beer taps, a can and bottle selection, as well as a great wine list to choose from. And we’ll always be serving a pint of Guinness. Visit us inside or have a seat on our beautiful patio—shady and cool and perfect to enjoy a bourbon on the rocks.
Our food is meant to invoke the hospitalities of the South—simple, traditional, and comfortable. Appetizers include tea sandwiches with your choice of pimiento cheese, chicken salad, deviled ham, egg salad, or Benedictine spread—a Kentucky tradition. Our featured sandwich is a Louisville Hot Brown—thinly sliced turkey topped with cheddar cheese, tomato, bacon, and house-made parmesan aioli and grilled to perfection. Many of our dishes will also feature our house-made bourbon barbecue sauce—tangy and sweet and great with our pulled pork. And for dessert, save room for our signature Pope House pie—a chocolate pecan pie topped with a dollop of bourbon whipped cream.
Join us weekdays from 4:00-Midnight, weekends until 1:00am. Closed on Mondays until further notice.
