| Swing Papillon Gypsy Jazz |
|
| From Portland, Oregon, Swing Papillon is rooted in the tradition of gypsy jazz and the Hot Club of France. Bryan Darby (Lead Guitar) has been into gypsy jazz long before the craze and it shows with his Django-like lines and machine gun tremolos. James Mason (Violin) is a truly remarkable soloist and has played alongside such greats as Andreas Oberg and Robin Nolan. Hyung Nam (Rhythm Guitar) pumps out the time with a joyous smile and you can set your watch by his tempo. Michael Papillo (Double Bass), dubbed Papillon by gyspsy jazz great Robin Nolan, has adopted a few of the gypsy guitar techniques to the double bass and is a pleasure to watch and hear. While each taking his art and his craft seriously, together the musicians have as much fun performing as audiences have listening to them.http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=55943318 |

| Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello Winemakers dinner with Emilia Nardi May 14th
Please join Chef Marco Frattaroli at Bastas Trattoria in welcoming Emilia Nardi of Tenute Silvio Nardi for a traditional Tuscan four course dinner featuring her wines on Thursday May 14th at 6:30pm. Dinner including gratuity will be $75.00 per person.
Featured wines will be 2007 Rosso di Montalcino,
2004 Brunello di Montalcino and Emila Nardi’s famous single estate wine, Brunello di Montalcino Manachiara 2003.
The Nardi family has farmed in Tuscany since the nineteenth century and are founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium. The estate has been a leader in the production of world-class Brunello since the 1950s.
Grapes are sourced from two estates: Casale del Bosco in northwest Montalcino and Manachiara in southwestern Montalcino near Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
Emilia Nardi runs the estate today with the philosophy that “intimately knowing each single parcel of land helps us to determine the best way to grow, vinify, and age our wines.” Emilia inherited her father’s passion for quality and terrior.
Please call BASTAS at 503 2741572 for reservations. Seating is limited to 26 people
The wines will be available for retail purchase from Liner & Elsen wine shop after the dinner.
