Pacific Pie Company Brings Aussie Treats to Portland!
April 20, 2009
Portland, OR – April 20, 2009 – Pacific Pie Company, a new Portland based business, is bringing Aussie pies, pasties, and sausage rolls to area farmer’s markets. All Pacific Pie Company products feature local, humanely raised meat and organic vegetables.
In 2007 Sarah Curtis-Fawley and Chris Powell moved to the States from Australia. Chris soon became homesick for all things Aussie – his mates, cricket, vegemite and of course, meat pies. He couldn’t believe that he wasn’t able to find a decent pie or pastie – the Aussie lunchtime staple. Sarah started baking up batches of pies to satisfy his cravings, and a new business was born.
Sarah and Chris are passionate about food, sustainability, and small-scale agriculture. All of the beef in our pies is 100% grass fed and pastured raised. We also use pastured lamb from the Willamette Valley, and pork from artisan producer Sweet Briar Farms in Eugene. We use organic veggies, the butter in our amazing handmade pastry is rBST free, and our flour is sustainably harvested.
We have a pie to satisfy every craving, from Classic Beef to Golden Lamb Curry to Chicken Satay. We also make homemade sausage rolls and a range of vegetarian pasties. Sarah is also known for her Aussie style sweets, including Caramel Slice, Apricot-Oat Slice, and Jam Slice.
This year Pacific Pie Company will be participating in area farmer’s
markets: Interstate, Cannon Beach, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard, and Milwaukie.
